Friday, August 20, 2010 | Football
Brady Ackerman, Sun Sports' UF football sideline reporter, hosts the network's 2010 Gator Football Preview Presented by Verizon Wireless, premiering Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 8 p.m.
The half-hour show begins with an introduction to the team, analysis of redshirt junior John Brantley (Ocala, Fla.) taking over at quarterback, then talks about junior Jeff Demps (Winter Garden, Fla.) emerging as one of the elite weapons in college football at running back, plus the Gators' veteran offensive line arguably being the strongest unit on the team.

Next up, the show touches on John Brantley's family legacy at Florida. Sun Sports sat down with his father, John III and his uncle, Scot – both former Gators - about the spring and how Brantley has waited patiently for his chance to start. Then, the show introduces new Gator wide receivers' coach Zach Azzanni and his group of wide receivers, led by junior Deonte Thompson (Belle Glade, Fla.).
The Preview also introduces new Gator co-defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, who came to the Gators from the NFL, and talks about each unit on the defense. Featured players include seniors Justin Trattou (Ramsey, N.J.) and Ahmad Black (Lakeland, Fla.), who are the team leaders on defense, while new linebackers and special teams coach D.J. Durkin is also introduced.
In the final segment, hear from the Gators on why they feel they can be back in Atlanta this year playing for the SEC title, and how they're relishing the role as being the hunters instead of being the hunted.
