University of Florida freshman tackle Chaz Green (Tampa, Fla.) had successful hernia surgery at Shands Florida Surgical Center on Friday morning performed by Dr. Kfir Ben-David. He is expected to return in 2-to-4 weeks.
A 6'5”, 289-pounder, Green was a four-star prospect who was rated the No. 6 offensive lineman in the nation according to Rivals.com. He played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game and was named to the Top 150 Dream Team by PrepStar Magazine. Last fall, Green helped Tampa Catholic to an 11-2 record and a runner-up finish in Class 2B. His efforts helped pave the way for a squad that rushed for over 3,000 yards in 2009. As a junior, Green earned second-team all-state recognition.
The Gators open up the 2010 season on Saturday, Sept. 4, at The Swamp against the Miami RedHawks. The game will be carried live on ESPN at noon.
