Echavarria and Vongvanij Finish in Top 10 in Stroke Play at U.S. Amateur

Florida senior golfers Andres Echavarria (Medellin, Colombia) and Bank Vongvanij (Bradenton, Fla.) qualified for match play Tuesday at the U.S. Amateur Championship in Chambers Bay, Wash.
Both golfers finished in the top 10 in the field of 64. Echavarria finished three-under-par and tied for fourth place, while Vongvanij shot even par for the day and tied for seventh place.
“We are excited about the way the guys finished,” said Florida Head Coach Buddy Alexander. “This is a big deal. I hope they have as much luck in match play as they did in stroke play.”
Vongvanij begins match play Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET and Echavarria tees off at 4:40 p.m. ET.
