21 Gators Named to ALC Academic Honor Roll

21 Florida Gators were named to the 2010 American Lacrosse Conference Academic Honor Roll, as announced by Commissioner Peggy Pruitt on Friday.
The ninth annual American Lacrosse Conference Academic Honor Roll, noting academic excellence by student-athletes for the 2009-10 school year, contains 118 performers. Student-athletes who maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2009-10 academic year were eligible for the Honor Roll. Appearing on the list are seven members of the ALC All-Conference first team and nine members of the ALC All-Conference second team, including Brittany Dashiell (Bel Air, Md.) and ALC Rookie of the Year Ashley Bruns (Ellicott City, Md). Vanderbilt led all schools with 26 honorees, while NCAA Runner-up Northwestern had 20 recipients and Ohio State had 19 student-athletes so named.
“I could not be more proud of these girls and the hard work they have put in on and off the field,” Gators head coach Mandee O'Leary said. “It is a great accomplishment and says so much about the wealth of resources available to our athletes here at the University of Florida.”
With this achievement, the Gators now have added their 18th honor of their inaugural season and their fourth academic accomplishment, as 17 Gator freshmen were named to the ALC Academic Honor Roll, along with two sophomores, a junior, and a senior.
