'Navigator' to replace 'Gator Aider' park and ride service
Tuesday, August 31, 2010 | General
Football fans that used the Regional Transit System Gator Aider will see a change. Starting this season, Fabulous Coach Lines will be providing the park and ride service for Florida football games.
NaviGator Info: |
Fares: $10 per game Free for lap children only Locations: Hilton UF Conference Center Oaks Mall Tioga Town Center Village Center in Haile Plantation Southwest Downtown Parking Garage Departure Times: Departs to stadium: 3 hours before game starts through 10 minutes before game starts Departs from stadium: Beginning of 4th quarter until one hour after game ends |
The change in service was necessary due to the Federal Transit Administration “Charter Service Rule.” Since RTS receives federal funding, any private transit company that expresses interest in providing its services is granted the rights to the service.
Single-game passes increased slightly to $10 this season. Year-long, home-game passes, including Gator Growl transportation, will be offered for $60.
Fans will also be able to purchase transportation and packages for away games, which include hotel accommodations and all-inclusive tailgating parties.
The Navigator will not be using RTS bus stops, but will still use the same general locations. The shuttles will provide service from: the Hilton UF Conference Center, Oaks Mall, Southwest Downtown Parking Garage, Tioga Town Center and Village Center in Haile Plantation.
Shuttle service to the stadium begins three hours before each home game, so fans will be able to attend Gator Walk and other pre-game events. The last shuttle leaves approximately 10 minutes before kickoff. Return service will begin during the fourth quarter until an hour after the game ends.
