Head Coach Becky Burleigh Met with the Media on Monday
Monday, September 20, 2010 | Soccer
University of Florida head coach Becky Burleigh addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Coach Burleigh shared her assessment of last week competition at the Duke Nike Classic, where the Gators tied No. 15 Duke, 1-1, before falling to two-time defending NCAA champion and current No. 1 North Carolina, 2-0. Three Gator defenders were named to the Duke Nike Classic All-Tournament team: Jazmyne Avant, Ashlee Elliott and Kathryn Williamson.
She then previewed this week's action, when Florida concludes its five-match road trip as the defending league-champion Gators open their Southeastern Conference season on Friday at Kentucky (5-2), before playing at Vanderbilt (6-3) on Sunday.
Coach then discussed and answered questions about what she learned about the team during the non-conference schedule, on not getting a victory last week, on the SEC this year, on the team's road trip routine, on being disappointed with the outcome against UNC and on the play of junior midfielder Sarah Chapman.
