
Gator 2009 Women's SEC Champions to be Honored at UF-Miami Football Game

The 2009 University of Florida women's SEC cross country champions will be honored at the Florida-Miami football game Saturday as part of the pre-game festivities to kick off the 2010 football season at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Last cross country season, the women's team brought home the program's fourth overall SEC team title, its first since 1997. Cross country coach Todd Morgan was named the 2009 SEC and South Region Women's Coach of the Year. Rising junior Rebecca Lowe (Vaucluse, Australia) was named the 2010 SEC Female Athlete of the Year, as well as the South Region Female Athlete of the Year after winning the SEC Championship with the 10th best time in UF history and the NCAA South Regional with the fastest 6K Regional time. Florida additionally returns two All-Americans in Lowe and rising senior Charlotte Browning (Chichester, England).
Florida's 2010 women's cross country squad checked in at No. 8 on the preseason 2010 USTFCCCA Division I Preseason Coaches' Poll, released this past Tuesday. The Gators were additionally tabbed as the second-ranked team in the South Region Monday and head into the season picked by the 2010 Southeastern Conference coaches to defend their league title this fall. The 2010 Gators' squad tallied all eleven first-place votes to take top honors in the 2010 SEC Cross Country Coaches Preseason Poll.
Florida kicks off the 2010 campaign Saturday, September 18, when it hosts the 22nd annual Mountain Dew Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the UF campus. Meet start time is at 8 a.m. for the women's college race.
