University of Florida head coach Mike Holloway addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Coach Holloway talked about the team's preparations heading into the 2011 indoor season, which begins for the Gators on Jan. 15, traveling to University Park, Pa., to compete in the Nittany Lion Challenge.
The four-team event, which begins at 11 a.m., features the Gators, host Penn State, Albany and Maryland.
The Gator men, who claimed the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship, are ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Poll to start the 2011 campaign. Florida's freshmen, some of whom will be seeing their first action on Saturday, comprise a pair of top-10 recruiting classes, according to Track and Field News. The Gator men boast the nation's No. 2 recruiting class, while the Florida women have the nation's seventh-ranked recruiting class. The Florida women are coming off a fourth-place finish at last season's NCAA Indoor Championships, but return just one of 33 points from that fourth-place team.
