On the heels of capturing its first Southeastern Conference title since 2005 and advancing to the 2010 NCAA College World Series, the Florida baseball team will appear on the ESPN family of networks four times during the 2011 regular season, including three match-ups on the road at Georgia and Arkansas, as well as the second game of UF's home series with Alabama April 23.
ESPNU's previously announced inaugural Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week will begin Thursday, Apr. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and run seven weeks through May 19. The ESPNU Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week schedule includes the 2010 national champion South Carolina, SEC Tournament champion LSU and SEC regular-season champion Florida. In addition to the Thursday night games, SEC baseball will have 11 other games, including the SEC Championship Sunday, May 29, on ESPN2.
The Gators will first appear on ESPNU Sat., April 16, in a 2 p.m. match-up with Georgia in Athens. UF's second game in the April 22-24 series with Alabama will air at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 April 23, while the first and third games of the Gators' road series with Arkansas May 5-7 in Fayetteville will be carried on ESPNU. The Thurs., May 5 game is slated for 7:30 p.m., while the tilt Sat., May 7 will air at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
In addition to Florida and South Carolina advancing to the College World Series, sixth other SEC teams advanced to NCAA post-season action. It marked the sixth time since 2000 and the third straight year an SEC team played for the national title.
Florida's complete television schedule will be released in early February to include any games broadcast by CSS and Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida.
