Tebow's promotion adds flavor to Gator Appreciation Day at Broncos-Dolphins game

The biggest story making the rounds in the NFL today is Broncos coach John Fox naming former Gators quarterback Tim Tebow Denver's starter for its game at Miami on Oct. 23.

Those Broncos fans that recently purchased a billboard in Denver urging Fox to name Tebow the starter are happy. All the Gator fans that continue to support Tebow as if he were still Florida's quarterback are happy.
Perhaps the happiest of anyone are the Dolphins, who are hosting Gator Appreciation Day on Oct. 23 at Sun Life Stadium. The event was announced last month. The Dolphins will honor Florida's recent national championship teams.
Former Gators coach Urban Meyer is expected to attend and former Gators Tebow, Derrick Harvey, Marcus Thomas and Mike Pouncey will not only play in the game, but be part of the Dolphins' celebration. Pouncey is the only one who plays for the Dolphins.
While Miami's plan to honor the Gators didn't sit well with a lot of Miami Hurricanes fans – Sun Life Stadium is the Hurricanes' home now that the Orange Bowl is long gone – the news of Tebow's promotion this morning must be a big hit around the Dolphins' ticket office.
Miami hasn't played at home since Sept. 18 against Houston, and that game didn't exactly pack them into the stadium considering team sponsors reportedly had to purchase 10,000 tickets to ensure a sellout.
With Tebow coming to town as Denver's starter and thousands of Florida alumni living in South Florida – not to mention all the Tebow fans who became Gator fans because of him – the inaugural Gator Appreciation Day should be a colorful afternoon.
