
No. 11 Florida Soccer Meets Mississippi State Sunday in Starkville

The No. 11 Florida soccer team (13-3, 6-1 SEC) finishes its stay in the Magnolia State Sunday when it meets Mississippi State (4-8-3, 1-5-1 SEC) in Starkville, Miss. Match time is set for 2 p.m. ET at the MSU Soccer Field.

In the 2010 meeting, the Gators took a 7-1 win over MSU at the James G. Pressly Stadium in Florida's Third Annual Kicking for the Cure breast cancer awareness match. Two Gators turned in a pair of goals – Tahnai Annis and Lindsay Thompson. Florida also got goals from Erika Tymrak, McKenzie Barney and then freshman Caroline Triglia turned in her first collegiate goal.
The first double-goal match for freshmen Havana Solaun gave the Gators a 2-0 win at Mississippi on Friday. The first came when junior Jo Dragotta's through ball found Solaun. She beat her defender and scored from 10 yards in the 34th minute. She added her second goal in the 77th minute when she one-touched in the deep cross from Jazmyne Avant.
Solaun has been a productive point producer as of late, turning in at least a point in five of the last six matches. Ten of her 16 points this season have come in that span.
TopDrawer Soccer posted its list of the top players in the Southeastern Conference on Friday. Topping that list is Gator junior Erika Tymrak. She leads the Gators with 11 goals and 27 points. Both totals rank second in the league. Tymrak also shares second among the Gators in assists (5).
The win Friday puts UF in the lead in the Southeastern Conference race, with four matches remaining. Three teams – Georgia, South Carolina and LSU – are tied for second with 5-2 league records. Florida faces South Carolina and LSU in the final two matches of the regular season.
Mississippi State is 4-8-3 in 2011. The Bulldogs has lost its last three matches – losing 4-3 in double overtime at Georgia, dropping a 2-0 match at Tennessee and losing 1-0 versus South Carolina on Friday. The result Friday was the Bulldogs' first home loss of 2011, as MSU owns an overall home record of 3-1-2, including a 2-0 win over then No. 20 Auburn on Oct. 2. Junior Jasmine Simmons and sophomore Elisabeth Sullivan share the Bulldogs' points lead at nine each.
