
Four Gators Named to All-SEC Soccer Teams & Two on SEC Freshman Team

Four University of Florida soccer players are part of 2011 All-Southeastern Conference teams, the league office announced Monday afternoon. A pair of Gator juniors are repeat selections for the 11-member All-SEC first team – midfielder Erika Tymrak and defender Kathryn Williamson. Senior outside back Jazmyne Avant and junior midfielder Holly King are All-SEC second team selections.
Florida also placed a pair of midfielders on the 13-member SEC All-Freshman team –Havana Solaun and Annie Speese.
Here's a look at Florida's 2011 All-SEC honorees:
First team:
Midfielder – Erika Tymrak: Leads Florida with collegiate-highs for points (27) and goals (11)… tied for second in assists (5)… tied for fourth in SEC for season goals and also seventh in points… named SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5 after scoring a pair of goals and assisting on middle goal in 3-0 win versus Texas Tech… turned in third collegiate double-goal match and also assisted on McKenzie Barney's golden goal versus then No. 22 Auburn… named to College Soccer 360 Primetime Performers list on Oct. 10 for Auburn match… scored goals at Georgia (1-0) and versus Vanderbilt (2-0)… First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic All-Tournament team selection… No. 15 on Top Drawer Soccer's national list of top 100 collegiate players… 2010 All-SEC first team and 2009 SEC All-Freshman selection.
Defender – Kathryn Williamson: Started every match at center back, playing the entirety of 18 matches… leads all UF players with 86.3 minutes per match… SEC Defensive Player of the Week and part of Soccer America's National Team of the Week on Aug. 22 after helping Florida to a pair of season-opening shutout wins… SEC Defensive Player of the Week and part of Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week after helping the Gators open home league action with a pair of shutout wins… First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic All-Tournament team selection… named to Missouri Athletic Club/Hermann Trophy Watch List… No. 75 on Top Drawer Soccer's national list of top 100 collegiate players… 2010 All-SEC first team and 2009 SEC All-Freshmen selection.
Second team:
Defender - Jazmyne Avant: Started every match at outside back… provided the assist on McKenzie Barney's game-winning goal in 3-2 win over then No. 18 Texas A&M… also assisted on final goal versus Texas Tech and at Mississippi… First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic All-Tournament team selection… averaging 78.2 minutes per match… 2008 SEC All-Freshman selection.
Midfielder – Holly King: Started 19 matches at holding midfield… scored the second goal in 3-2 loss to then No. 5 Florida State… provided Florida's second goal in 2-0 win versus Vanderbilt… assisted on McKenzie Barney's golden goal versus then No. 22 Auburn… played the entirety of seven matches… averaging 75.5 minutes per match.
SEC All-Freshman:
Midfielder - Havana Solaun: Shares Florida's assists lead (6), third in both points (18) and goals (6)… headed in golden goal at Arkansas… turned in a pair of goals at Mississippi for first double-goal match as a collegiate… scored goal at Miami in first collegiate match… also scored at Kansas and at then No. 12 Tennessee… provided an assist versus No. 18 Texas A&M and at Kansas… turned in three assists during weekend of Sept. 30-Oct. 2, with assist on second goal in 2-0 win versus Vanderbilt and two assists in 3-0 win versus Kentucky… assisted on Erika Tymrak's first goal in 3-2 OT win versus No. 22 Auburn… No. 35 on Top Drawer Soccer's national list of top 100 freshmen.
Midfielder - Annie Speese: Second among Gators in goals (7) and points (20) and tied for first in assists (6)… eighth Gator in program's 17-year history to turn in 20 or more points as a freshman… scored first pair of collegiate goals in 2-0 win at Missouri… also scored a goal at Kansas… named SEC Freshman of the Week and to Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on Sept. 19 after the three-goal weekend… SEC Freshman of the Week after two goals in 3-0 win versus Kentucky… hit UF's first and third goals in 4-1 win versus Alabama for third double-goal match in an eight-match span… No. 10 on Top Drawer Soccer's national list of top 100 freshmen.
In other awards announced Monday, South Carolina senior Kayla Grimsley repeated as the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Three shared the SEC Defensive Player of the Year – Auburn's Julie King, LSU's Allysha Chapman and South Carolina's Sabrina D'Angelo. Auburn senior Katy Frierson is the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and D'Angelo is the SEC Freshman of the Year. Shelley Smith, who led South Carolina to its first league regular-season title in 2011, is the SEC Coach of the Year.
The Gators now head to the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala. Florida will open play with Georgia on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 8:30 p.m. (ET). The Gators are the defending SEC Tournament champion and have won nine since the program began in 1995.
