In the 2010 meeting between these two teams, all the scoring came within two minutes of the beginning and end of the second half. Tahnai Annis gave UF a 1-0 lead with her goal at 46:27 but then-senior Brooke Rogers tied the match at 89:03. The match ended in the second tie in the 16-match series. It was the only tie for UF in 2010 SEC play, as UF took the 2010 SEC regular-season title with a 9-1-1 record.
Florida came from behind twice Friday to open the weekend with a 3-2 overtime win over No. 22 Auburn. Junior Erika Tymrak played a part in every Gator goal Friday, scoring twice in regulation and sending the final pass which led to Barney's golden goal in the 97th minute. Tymrak tied the match in the 49th minute (eight yard shot) and again in the 58th minute (18 yard shot). She and Holly King combined to assist Barney on her second career golden goal, which came off a left-footed six-yard shot. Tymrak now has team-highs of 11 goals and 27 points. Her season points tally is two better and goals total is five better than her previous highs set in 2010.
Tymrak's 11 goals have all come in UF's last 12 matches. She shares the SEC season goals lead with Georgia sophomore Alexa Newfield. Four of freshman Havana Solaun's season-leading six assists have come in the last three matches and her total shares sixth in the league.
Alabama is 6-5-2 in 2011, including a four-match win streak from Sept. 4-Sept. 23. UA lost 4-1 at South Carolina on Friday. The Tides' goalkeeper, 2010 Southeastern Conference first-team selection Justine Bernier, was with the Canadian National Team when they met the U.S. for a pair of friendly matches on Sept. 17 and 23. Redshirt freshman Theresa Diederich leads the Tide with 10 points off of five goals, including Alabama's goal in Friday's loss at South Carolina.
Sunday's match can be heard on WRUF SportsRadio 850, by simulcast on Cox Channel 946 (Gainesville/Ocala) or on www.GatorZone.com with Adam Schick and Matthew Stubbington calling the action.
