
Gators open spring soccer season Saturday with a pair of home matches

The University of Florida soccer team opens its spring season Saturday with a pair of home matches against Mercer and USF.

The Gators take on Mercer at 3 p.m. at the soccer practice field, which is part of the UF Lacrosse/Soccer Complex on Hull Road. Fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs for seating for the UF-Mercer match. Florida and Mercer faced each other in 2010 NCAA First Round action in Gainesville, with the Gators advancing with a 3-0 win. At 7 p.m., Florida faces the USF Bulls in the James G. Pressly Stadium. Admission is free for both matches.
Due to the large amount of events on campus Saturday (SEC Swimming & Diving Championships, Gator baseball and the Florida Invitational Step Show), fans are encouraged to utilize the parking shuttle. Park in the commuter lot on Gale Lemerand Drive where the shuttle will pick up patrons and drop them off by the Lemerand Center on Stadium Road where it is easy access to Pressly Stadium for the 7 p.m. match. The shuttle begins at 2 p.m. Saturday and runs until 30 minutes after the evening's final event.

During the 2010 season, Florida claimed Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament titles. It held top 10 national ranks in 10 of the 12 NSCAA polls of the season.
