No Parsons, No Problem for Gators at LSU
Monday, February 21, 2011 | Men's Basketball, Men's Golf, Scott Carter
The UF men's basketball team took the court at LSU on Sunday afternoon without one of its most important pieces.
Senior forward Chandler Parsons, eight days after suffering a deep-thigh bruise in a victory over Tennessee, did not play.
No Parsons, no problem for the Gators, who won 68-61 behind 17 points each from guards Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton. Senior center Vernon Macklin added 16 points as the Gators tied their season high with their fifth consecutive victory.
The Gators (21-5, 10-2 SEC) also pulled into a tie with SEC West leader Alabama for the top record in the SEC. Florida improved to 7-1 on the road and is playing some of its best basketball of the season heading into a tough four-game stretch to close the season.
The Gators have home games remaining against Georgia and Alabama, and road games at Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
