Florida men's track coach Mike Holloway got a little wet on Saturday.
Gators sprinter Jeff Demps, after repeating as the NCAA Indoor Track and Field national champion in the 60-meter dash, dumped a sports drink on Holloway's head when the Gators clinched the team title.
The Gators became the fourth men's program to repeat as indoor national champions. Florida finished with 52 points; host Texas A&M was second with 40 points, BYU third with 34.
Besides Demps setting a school-record with his winning time of 6.53 seconds, UF triple-jumpers Will Claye and Christian Taylor finished 1-2.
Claye beat Taylor with a leap of 56 feet, 10 inches. Taylor, seeking a third consecutive national indoor title, finished second with a jump of 55-9.
Oregon repeated as the women's national champion.
The men's track team's national title is the 25th team national championship in school history and seventh since the Gators men's basketball team won the first of back-to-back national titles in 2006.
The majority of UF's national championships have come since Jeremy Foley became athletic director in 1992. Prior to Foley taking over, the Gators had won nine national championships. They have won 16 in 19 years under his direction.
