
Donovan Named Finalist for 2011 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award

Florida men's basketball head coach Billy Donovan is one of 16 finalists for the 2011 Jim Phelan National Coach of the year award. Among the finalists is the recipient of the 2010 award, Pittsburgh's Jamie Dixon who is one of four Big East coaches on the list of finalists.
Mike Brey (Notre Dame), Rick Byrd (Belmont), Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh), Billy Donovan (Florida), Steve Fisher (San Diego State), Greg Kampe (Oakland), Mike Krzyzewski (Duke), Steve Lavin (St. John's), Thad Matta (Ohio State), Stew Morrill (Utah State), Sean Miller (Arizona), Matt Painter (Purdue), Rick Pitino (Louisville), Dave Rose (Brigham Young), Bill Self (Kansas) and Roy Williams (North Carolina) make up the 2011 list.
Donovan, the winningest coach in UF history, led the Gators to a 29-8 record in 2010-11 and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight. In 507 games, Donovan now has a 360-147 record, the second-best winning percentage (.710) in league history behind legendary Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp (.842).
The winner will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet on Friday, April 1 in Houston at site of the men's basketball championship.
