
Notebook: National Powers Descend on Gainesville

Several of the nation's top track and field teams will descend upon Gainesville this weekend to participate in Saturday's Tom Jones Memorial Classic. The event features three of the nation's top-10 teams on the men's side and welcomes the No. 1 team in the nation on both the men's and women's sides.
The nation's No. 1 (Florida) and No. 2 (Texas A&M) men's teams will square off in Gainesville, along with No. 9 Nebraska. The top team in the land on the women's side – No. 1 Texas A&M will also be participating along with No. 24 TCU. The Aggies are the two-time defending NCAA Outdoor Champions on both the men's and women's sides.
The action is slated to get underway at 12 p.m. ET from James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Gator men are the two-time defending NCAA Indoor Champions and have posted runner-up finishes at the NCAA Outdoor Championships each of the last two years. The Florida women's team placed third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2010.
