Seven Florida Football Players Set to Graduate this Weekend
Friday, April 29, 2011 | Football
Seven University of Florida football players will receive their degrees during this weekend's commencement ceremonies at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The seven graduates will join 12 other December graduates totaling 19 Gator football graduates for the 2010-11 academic year.
Current players graduating this spring include defensive tackle Brandon Antwine (Garland, Texas), defensive back Miguel Carodine (Gainesville, Fla.), defensive tackle Terron Sanders (Bradenton, Fla.), offensive lineman Shawn Schmieder (Jacksonville, Fla.), defensive end Justin Trattou (Ramsey, N.J.) and wide receiver Justin Williams (Folkston, Ga.).
Former Gator wide receiver Riley Cooper (Clearwater Fla.) returned to school this spring and will graduate after playing with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Cooper had seven catches for 116 yards and one touchdown as a rookie for the Eagles after being selected in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Five of the seven football players played on a pair of National and SEC Championship teams, while the other two played on one conference and national championship team. The 2010 senior class went an astounding 11-2 against its long-established rivals (Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State and Miami), while going 24-8 in the SEC and 23-5 at The Swamp.
The seven football players are among 33 spring student-athlete graduates receiving degrees this weekend. Twenty eight of the 33 spring graduates were part of national and/or Southeastern Conference championship team during their Gator careers. That computes to 85% of the spring class who earned a title AND a degree while at UF.
