Saturday, April 30, 2011 | Football
The Washington Redskins have selected former Florida offensive lineman Maurice Hurt (Milledgeville, Ga.) with the 14th pick of the seventh round (217th overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft. Hurt is the fourth Gator drafted this year and the fourth UF offensive linemen picked in the past 2 years.
Hurt becomes the first offensive linemen taken by the Redskins in this year's draft and the first-ever Florida offensive linemen selected in franchise history. Wide receiver Taylor Jacobs, drafted in the second round in 2003, was the last Gator picked by Washington.
Hurt played in 41 games for the Orange and Blue and made 17 career starts. His versatility was very important during the 2010 season, he started games at right tackle, right guard and left guard, as the Gator offensive line was hit with injuries.
