Florida wraps up 2011 NFL Draft with four former players selected

On the final day of the day of the 2011 NFL Draft, the University of Florida had two players selected, giving them a total of four players drafted this year. Safety Ahmad Black (Lakeland, Fla.) was picked in the fifth round (151st overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and offensive lineman Maurice Hurt (Milledgeville, Ga.) was taken in the seventh round (217th overall) by the Washington Redskins.

On the final day of the day of the 2011 NFL Draft, the University of Florida had two players selected, giving them a total of four players drafted this year. Safety Ahmad Black (Lakeland, Fla.) was picked in the fifth round (151st overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and offensive lineman Maurice Hurt (Milledgeville, Ga.) was taken in the seventh round (217th overall) by the Washington Redskins.

Offensive lineman Mike Pouncey (Lakeland, Fla.) was drafted 15th overall in the first round on Thursday night by the Miami Dolphins and offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was drafted in the second round (63rd overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday night.

With the selection of Hurt on Saturday, the Gators had three offensive linemen taken in this year's draft and four in the past two years. It is the sixth time in school history that UF has had three offensive linemen drafted in the same year (also in 1954, '57, '63, '85 and '92).

DRAFT NOTES

- The Gators have had 43 players selected in the first-round all time.

- This was the fifth-straight year that UF has had a first-round selection, the longest active streak of any school in the nation.

- Florida is tied with Southern Cal for the most first-round draft picks since 2007 with eight.

- UF is the only school to have an offensive lineman selected in the first round in both 2010 and 2011.

- Florida faced five of the first 12 players selected in the NFL Draft during the 2010 season.

- The SEC had the number one overall pick for the third time in the last five years and had 10 top-five picks in the last five drafts.

- The SEC had 10 draft picks in the first round, the most of any conference.

- Florida was one of two schools to have three offensive linemen taken in this year's draft.

- It is the sixth time in school history that UF has had three offensive linemen drafted in the same year (also in 1954, '57, '63, '85 and '92).

- UF is the only school in the nation to have two offensive linemen taken in the first two rounds of the 2011 NFL Draft.

- The Gators have had a nation's best three offensive linemen taken in the top two rounds in the last two NFL Drafts.

- UF's three defensive backs taken in the past two drafts are tied for the most among SEC teams. (Nebraska and Texas each had 4)
