Wednesday, May 11, 2011 | Lacrosse
ESPNU's SEC Weekly, airing on Wednesdays at 5:00p.m. EST, will feature the Florida lacrosse team on their May 11th show. Florida head coach Amanda O'Leary, ALC Player of the Year Kitty Cullen (Rockville, Md.) and ALC Second Team recipient and ALC All-Tournament Team honoree Janine Hillier (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were interviewed for the spot, which focuses on the development of the Gator lacrosse program, which was built from scratch beginning with Florida's addition of lacrosse as a varsity sport in 2006.
O'Leary was hired in 2007 and given two years to form her first recruiting class, a highly-touted group of young women ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Fast-forward two years to the present, as the Gators enter the NCAA Tournament as the No. 4 overall seed and American Lacrosse Conference regular season champions. ESPNU takes viewers on a journey of the building of a new lacrosse powerhouse.
SEC Weekly airs on Wednesdays at 5:00p.m. EST on ESPNU (Cox Ch 251 and DIRECTV Ch 208) with reairings on Wednesday night at 11:00p.m. EST and Thursday morning at 5:00a.m. EST.
