Head Coach Amanda O'Leary
Opening Statement…
“We were just really excited, obviously. It's such a new program to make it to the Elite 8, I'm just really proud of our team, of our coaching staff, of our support staff. It was a great job by Stanford. They came out and did a great job defensively against us. Offensively they put a lot of goals in the back of the net and all the credit in the world to Stanford. They did a fantastic job.”
On Stanford…
“Stanford is a high pressure team. They play high-pressure defense and through the midfield so we did expect them to come out in high pressure. They're very good; they're a very well coached team. Defensively they came out in the zone and I think it set us back a little bit but then we made some adjustments and were able to react to it.”
On the team…
“We've matured a bit over the past season. We're a lot better at cutting away. If we get down, we would get back into it. I'm just really proud of their effort today. They fought hard and they fought back and I think that's really a sign of maturity and I'm so thrilled for these guys.”
Sophomore Midfield Janine HIller
On the game…
“I feel that controlling the ball is key to winning this game. I feel that we came up strong and worked hard and put them in the back of the net when it counted.”
Sophomore Midfield Brittany Dashiell
On the game…
“We score a lot of goals through transition and I think we really exploited their weaknesses and used our strengths.”
Sophomore Attack Kitty Cullen
On playing at home…
“I definitely think it's an advantage playing at home. A lot of our parents were able to come and we know our field well, it's a big field and we're able to run it like we did at the end. I really think it's definitely a huge advantage.”
On hard work…
“We work so hard in the offseason and in the summer. It's so nice seeing that this year is really paying off. Everything we've been doing, waking up on Fridays at 6:00a.m. running Gator Mountains, everything is paying off this season. It's just showing how hard work really pays off.
Stanford
Head Coach Amy Bokker
Opening Statement…
“I'm proud of our team but it just didn't fall our way today. Florida is a great team, very athletic and they played hard.”
On the team's performance…
“We held their transition pretty well, had good pressure on their goalkeeper. I thought their speed was a factor, but I thought our defense did a relatively good job.”
Senior Midfield Leslie Foard
On the weather…
”We were hoping Mother Nature was on our side for a night game but that didn't work out.”
Junior Defender Paige Farmakis
On the effect of the rain delay…
“We were pumped the whole time and ready to play.”
