
USA Basketball Wraps Play at FIBA U19 World Championships with 7-2 Record, Fifth-Place Finish

USA basketball finished 7-2 at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Latvia, placing fifth out of 16 in the event after an ill-timed quarterfinal loss to Russia. The American squad rebounded to take its final two games in the consolation bracket. Florida's Patric Young (Jacksonville, Fla.) averaged 9.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in nine games throughout the championships.
Lithuania took home the gold, defeating Serbia, 85-67, in the gold medal game. Russia claimed the bronze with a 77-72 victory over Argentina.
