Florida Swimming and Diving Lands 22 on CSCAA Scholar All-America List

Both the University of Florida's men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recipients of the 2011 College Swimming Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team Award. In addition, 22 student-athletes from the swimming and diving team were recognized by the CSCAA in its 2011 poll. In order to receive the Team Scholar Award, a college or university swim team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in both the fall semester and semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Florida was the lone top-10 program to appear on both the men's and women's Division I Scholar All-America Team Awards list. In addition, the women's team was the highest placed top-10 program to receive Scholar All-America Team status by the CSCAA. The men's team made the cut with a 3.0 cumulative GPA for the 2011-12 academic year, while the women rallied for a cumulative 3.36 GPA in the classroom.
To receive the individual Scholar All-America Award, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have qualified for the National Championship meet. Honorable Mention selections must achieve the same academic standards, and have logged an NCAA consideration time. Of the 22 Gators honored by the CSCAA, there were 12 Scholar All-America award winners and 10 Honorable Mention selections.
The list includes five three-time honorees in Teresa Crippen (Conshohocken, Pa.), Anna-Lisa Pold (San Diego, Calif.), Lily Ramirez (Gainesville, Fla.), Shara Stafford (Topeka, Kan.) and Mike Joyce (Voorhees, N.J.).
