In recent days, speculation has soared that the SEC was in the process of potentially adding Texas A&M and perhaps one or more other schools.

University of Florida president Bernie Machen and 10 other SEC presidents met Sunday to discuss the potential changes to the conference's athletic landscape.
Machen, Chair of the Southeastern Conference Presidents and Chancellors, issued the following statement on Sunday afternoon.
“The SEC Presidents and Chancellors met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment,'' Machen said. “We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league.
“We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M.”
