Mackenzie Caquatto Sixth in All-Around after Day 1 of Visa Gymnastics Championships

Rising University of Florida sophomore Mackenzie Caquatto is sixth after the first day of the senior competition at the 2011 Visa Championships at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn. Caquatto has a 56.600 total score in the all-around competition. The women's competition concludes on Saturday, Aug. 20, with live television coverage on NBC Sports beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Caquatto turned in the session's second-highest score on the uneven bars (15.00). She also shared the sixth-highest mark (13.65) on floor exercise.
Event leaders after the first day of competition are Jordyn Wieber (all-around – 15.80; floor exercise – 14.90), Chellsie Memmel (balance beam – 15.25), Alicia Sacramone (vault – 15.50) and Anna Li (uneven bars – 15.05).
Caquatto enrolled at Florida for the spring 2011 semester after competing for the U.S.'s silver medal team at the 2010 World Championships held in Rotterdam, Netherlands in October.
As a freshman for the Gators, Caquatto posted the nation's fifth-highest all-around total of the season (39.575) to take the title in the Alabama dual. She claimed a total of 10 event titles (six bars, three beam and one all-around) in 2011.
The second day of women's senior competition is scheduled for Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The scores from both days will be added together to determine the all-around rankings and national champions.
The 2011 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics' national championships, features the country's best gymnasts vying for national titles and spots on the U.S. National Team in men's, women's and rhythmic gymnastics.
