
Marshae Dotson to Participate in Summer Commencement

Among the University of Florida graduates walking across the stage this weekend to receive their diplomas are 17 current and former Gator student-athletes – including women's basketball's Marshae Dotson. UF's summer commencement ceremonies, which will take place Saturday, Aug. 6, according to college assignment.
The forward from Columbus, Ohio, ran the floor for the Orange & Blue from 2005-09, and will receive her Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism.
During her four-year Gator career, Dotson was considered one of the best undersized post players in the country. She was named a 2009 First-Team All-Southeastern Conference (coaches) and a Second-Team selection by the media, voted 2007-08 First-Team All-SEC by the league's coaches and a Second-Team selection by the media, 2006-07 Second-Team All- SEC performer (coaches) and Associated Press All-SEC Honorable Mention team selection. Dotson earned a spot on the 2006 SEC All-Freshman Team.
She was UF's leading rebounder each of her last three years (2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09) and earned a spot on the 2007 and 2008 SEC Academic Honor Roll and 2006 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll.
In UF's CAREER record book, upon graduation, Dotson ranked: No. 2 for field goal percentage (55.5%, just behind the 55.7% by U.S. Olympian Tammy Jackson, 1981-85) ... No. 10 scoring (1,529) ... No. 9 rebounds (854) ... No. 9 made field goals (598) ... No. 5 made free throws (333) ... No. 5 free throw attempted (499) ... t-No. 4 games played (126) ... became the 20th Gator to score 1,000 career points, reaching the milestone versus Mississippi State on February 10, 2008 … grabbed at least one rebound in every game of her career and scored in all except one game, including in each of the last 97 of her career ... started 95 of the 126 games she played ... never missed a game in her career ... 76 double-figure scoring games ... 22 double-figure rebounding games ... 19 double-doubles ... 22 games scoring at least 20 points
The Florida football team has five set to receive their degrees this weekend. Three from men's track & field, a pair from both the men's swimming and women's track & field teams will each receive their degrees, while men's tennis, women's basketball, women's golf, softball and volleyball will see one student-athlete graduate apiece on Saturday.
Among the other Gator graduates are two who claimed NCAA event titles while wearing the orange & blue. Brett Fraser concluded his Gator career with a pair of NCAA titles (200 freestyle and 800 free relay) at the 2011 NCAA Championships. He also was named a recipient of the NCAA post-graduate scholarship this spring. Ryan Lochte, who picked up the 2006 and 2005 NCAA Swimmer of the Year honors and just last week led all competitors with five gold medals at the World Championships, picked up six NCAA individual and one NCAA relay title as a Gator.
