University of Florida senior running back Jeff Demps (Winter Garden, Fla.) has been named to the watch list for the 2011 Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse, the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) announced yesterday.
Demps, who was named a Doak Walker Award nominee earlier this summer, is coming off an impressive 2010 campaign where he led the Gators in several statistical categories including rushing yards (551), carries (92), yards per game (50.1) and all-purpose yards (927).
For his career, Demps has amassed 1,901 yards rushing on 269 carries, a 7.1 average, and 17 touchdowns. Additionally, the Winter Garden native has tallied 309 yards receiving over his three seasons in the Orange and Blue.
The Paul Hornung Award is given annually by the LSC to the most versatile player in major college football. The Award was created by the LSC in January 2010 with the support of Paul Hornung, a native and lifelong resident of Louisville and member of the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
