Speese scored the first goals of her collegiate career in Florida's final matches of its non-conference season. She turned in her first collegiate goals at Missouri (ranked No.24 by Soccer America) on Sept. 16 as she provided all the scoring in the 2-0 win. The first came off a 19-yard shot with just two minutes left in the opening half. Her second goal came in the 86th minute. She received the ball off a free kick and brought it forward to almost the same spot as her first half goal and her left-footed shot scored in the upper slot. She is the 11th Gator to turn in multiple goals in the match where they scored their first collegiate goal and second first-time scorer since Leah Bridges in 1995 to provide all the UF scoring for a match.
On Sunday. Speese scored the second goal in Florida's 7-2 win at Kansas. She put in the deflection off freshman Havana Solaun's shot to give her the third goal of the weekend and of her career.
Speese is now second among the Gators with 10 points and shares second with three goals. She leads the Gators with four assists.
The Gators begin defense of their Southeastern Conference title next weekend with a pair of road trips, facing Georgia on Sept. 23 and No. 16 Tennessee on Sept. 25. Friday's match can be heard on WRUF SportsRadio 850, by simulcast on Cox Channel 946 (Gainesville/Ocala) or on www.GatorZone.com with Adam Schick calling the action.
