The University of Florida football team will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Lexington, Ky., to face the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The game is set for Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium and will be televised live on ESPN.
Florida (3-0, 1-0) is fresh off of its first Southeastern Conference victory under new head coach Will Muschamp, taking down Tennessee, 33-23, last Saturday. Kentucky (2-1, 0-0) fell to in-state rival Louisville last week, 24-17. UF is led by the RB duo of Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps, who have combined for 824 AP yards and 7 TD through 3 games. The Florida defense ranks 1st in the country in rush defense (30.67), 6th in scoring defense (8.67) and 7th in total defense (209.33).
The Florida coaching staff will be wearing Coach to Cure MD patches this week to raise awareness and funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. The Gators are looking for their 25th win in a row over the Wildcats, a streak dating back to 1986. UF has no players on its roster born earlier than 1988.
