Junior Erika Tymrak (Lakewood Ranch, Fla./Edison Academic Center) is the Southeastern Conference Offensive Soccer Player of the Week selection, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
SEC Players of the Week – 9/5/11 |
Offensive – Erika Tymrak, Florida |
Defensive – Ashley Baker, Georgia |
Freshman – Chandler Hillen, Auburn |
Last Friday in the Gators' home opener, Tymrak played a part in each of the Gators' goals as she scored twice and provided the assist on the middle goal. Her first came off a give-and-go with freshman Tessa Andujar, resulting in a 17-yard strike to the far post upper corner. Her second came when senior Jazmyne Avant sent a cross from deep in the Red Raider's territory and Tymrak scored a sliding goal at the far post corner. It was the second double-goal match of Tymrak's career. Tymrak also provided the assist on Taylor Travis's goal. Tymrak brought the ball down the middle of the TTU half and slid the ball forward where Travis finished from 10 yards to the far post.
Tymrak leads UF in points (9), assists (3) and shares the goals lead (3) with Travis.
This is the second SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Tymrak, who picked up her first after hitting both goals in UF's 2-1 OT win over Georgia in 2010. Tymrak earned 2010 first team honors for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region and All-SEC teams plus was the 2010 SEC Tournament MVP.
