Wednesday, January 4, 2012 | Men's Basketball
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced an updated list of candidates for the Bob Cousy Award on Wednesday, and Florida's Erving Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was among the 20 players named. The Cousy Award, named for the Hall of Fame Boston Celtic, recognizes the top point guards in college basketball. The list was trimmed from over 60 candidates by a Hall of Fame-appointed, nationally-based committee.
“This list of 20 candidates consists of college basketball's elite point guards,” said John L. Doleva, President & CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “Through the first few months of the season, these floor generals have demonstrated incredible leadership, court vision and toughness that epitomize the legacy of Mr. Cousy.”
The current list will be narrowed to 10 players in early February and pared down to five finalists by early March. The winner will be awarded at the Hall of Fame's class announcement on Monday, April 2, in New Orleans as part of NCAA Final Four weekend.
