Former Gators standout Jack Youngblood recently added another prominent award to his accomplished career.

Youngblood, a member of UF's Athletic Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was named the Charlotte Touchdown Club's 2011 Bronko Nagurski Legends Award winner. The Charlotte Touchdown Club administers the award in conjunction with the Football Writers Association of America.
“There are so many qualified players out there who deserve this award, too,'' Youngblood said. “It really makes you smile.''
Youngblood was a first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 1971 and played 14 seasons in the NFL, missing only one game. He helped the Rams win the 1979 NFC Championship Game to earn a spot in the 1980 Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Jack Youngblood certainly was a terrific defensive player both in college and the professional ranks. The FWAA felt he was worthy of All-America status during his college playing days at Florida, and he certainly went on to distinguish himself in the NFL,'' FWAA president Steve Richardson said.
Youngblood joined a group that includes players such as Bubba Smith, Alan Page and Ted Hendricks to win the Nagurski Legends Award in recent years.
