Green, out of Fort Meade (Fla.) High, was a defensive standout for Coach Doug Dickey and capped his career with first-team All-America honors in 1975 when he finished the season with 202 tackles. For his career (1972-75), Green moved back and forth from nose guard and linebacker, yet still averaged eight tackles a game, including 13 during that magnificent senior season that ended with Florida in the Gators Bowl (a loss to Maryland) and Green in the Senior Bowl.
In 1976, Green was drafted in the second round by the expansion Seattle Seahawks, for whom he played three seasons.
Green was enshrined as a “Gator Great” in the UF Athletic Hall of Fame with the Class of 2003.
