Gators Continue Fall Season at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

The sixth-ranked University of Florida's men golf team will travel to Vestavia Hills, Ala. for the team's third tournament of the fall season, the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will begin on Oct. 15 with two rounds of play. SEC-foe, Alabama, will serve as the tournament-host.
"Jerry Pate is an old, traditional event that always has a strong field on a terrific golf course,” said head coach Buddy Alexander. “There will be daunting greens and it will be fun for our guys to play.”
Seniors Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), Tommy Mou (Bradenton, Fla.), and T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.), sophomore J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), and freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.) will comprise the UF lineup at the par-70, 6,936 yard course.
“Our lineup has the same four guys in T.J. Vogel, Tyler McCumber, J.D. Tomlinson, and A.J. Crouch,” Alexander said. “Tommy Mou is playing in his first tournament since last year's Gator Invitational and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do.”
One of the premier fall events, Florida is one of five teams ranked in the most recent Nike/Golf World Coaches' Poll in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate field. The field also features four teams from the SEC (Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Mississippi State).
“It will be a big challenge against a competitive field,” Alexander stated.
The team did not compete in the tournament last year, but finished as runners-up in 2010. Then-sophomore Tyler McCumber recorded a third-place finish to lead the Gators. It marked his best-finish at the time.
Play will begin Monday morning with the second round following after completion of the first round. The third and final round will begin on Tuesday morning. Live scoring will be available on www.golftstat.com.
