Monday, October 22, 2012 | Men's Basketball
Florida has been predicted to finish second in the Southeastern Conference in a media poll by SEC and national media members. In addition, senior guard Kenny Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla.) received first-team recognition on the preseason All-SEC team, while junior center Patric Young (Jacksonville, Fla.) earned a second-team nod.
Florida received five of the 24 first-place votes and was the only team besides Kentucky to receive more than one first-place vote. Missouri and Tennessee each received one first-place vote.
The Gators are one of five teams to place two players on the preseason All-SEC teams as Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee each had one player on the first team and one player on the second team. Georgia also had one representative on the second team.
UF is ranked 10th nationally and begins its season with an exhibition game in the O'Connell Center on Nov. 1 vs. Nebraska-Kearney before tipping off the regular season aboard the USS Bataan against Georgetown on Nov. 9 in a nationally-televised contest vs. Georgetown.
The conference season begins on Jan. 9, when the Gators open SEC play at home against the Georgia Bulldogs.
