The Gators were eliminated from SEC Eastern Division contention for the first time after Georgia's Robert Edwards rushed 124 yards and four touchdowns in a 37-17 win for the Bulldogs, their first in eight tries against Florida coach Steve Spurrier.
Three UF quarterbacks (Doug Johnson, Jesse Palmer and Noah Brindise) combined for four interceptions and Georgia, down 17-14 in the third quarter, outscored UF 23-0 over the final 20 minutes.
“It's been a seven-year drought for us,” said Bulldogs wide receiver Hines Ward (pictured left), who went on to a fairly notable NFL career (See Super Bowl XL MVP). “This is the moment you come college for: to run around the field in utter jubilation. I don't ever want to let it go.”
