Saturday, November 10, 2012 | Men's Basketball
Florida guard Kenny Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla.) and center Patric Young (Jacksonville, Fla.) have been named to the John R. Wooden Award's Preseason Top 50 list, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced.
The list, voted on by media members, is based on last year's individual performance and team records. It recognizes 50 returning players as the early front-runners for the prestigious honor. The preseason list is not open to freshmen, transfers and medical redshirts, but those players are eligible to be added to the midseason ballot and the official voting ballot at the end of the season.
Florida is one of eight schools with multiple players on the initial list. Louisville has three players on the Wooden Preseason Top 50, while Florida joins Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina State and Ohio State with two players.
The Wooden Award All American Team, consisting of the nation's top 10 players, will be announced the week of the regional round of the NCAA Tournament.
