Countdown to Kickoff: Florida vs. Louisiana Game Notes

Looking to remain unbeaten at home, No. 7/7 Florida (8-1, 7-1 SEC) hosts Louisiana (5-3, 3-2 Sun Belt) on Saturday in the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools. In 1999, Louisiana changed names from the University of Southwest Louisiana to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and then opted to just go by the state name prior to this season.
Florida is 4-0 all-time against the Ragin' Cajuns. The last meeting was in 1996, when the Gators won, 55-21.
With the win over Missouri last week, the Gators finished SEC play with a 7-1 record, clinching a tie for the best record in the Eastern Division (Georgia has one game remaining). It marked the 12th time in school history that the Gators won seven or more league games. Since 1933, Florida and Alabama lead the league with 12 seasons each of seven SEC-win seasons.
With last week's win the Gators clinched at least a share of the SEC East title (although Georgia holds the tiebreaker and with a win at Auburn would represent the SEC East in the league's Championship Game in Atlanta).
Florida has won or tied for first in the East 12 times since the SEC split into divisions. (*won tiebreaker)

Florida only allowed 24 points in four SEC home games, the fewest points given up in a four-game SEC home schedule in school history. The previous best was 33 points allowed in four SEC home games in 1960.
This week marks the annual Homecoming game at UF. The Gators are 64-22-2 all-time in Homecoming games.
