
Sydney Moss Named SEC Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week

The University of Florida's Sydney Moss (Union, Ky.) was named the Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Moss led the was Florida's leading scorer in its two wins during the week, averaging 16.5 points, while hitting a team-best 66.7 percent (14-27) of her shots and dishing a team-high eight assists with just three turnovers.
The Gator rookie also averaged 6.0 rebounds, the second-highest average on the team last week.
Moss scored a career and game-high 18 points in the win against Troy that snapped the team's two-game losing streak and began a two-game win streak, which included Florida's 89-82 win against Pacific that had entered the game as one of 17 undefeated teams in the country.
The 5-foot-11 guard/forward was instrumental in helping Florida extend its overall home winning streak to 11 games, the fifth-longest streak in program history.
Overall this season, Moss leads Florida in assists (4.1 apg), while ranking second for scoring (11.0 ppg), rebounding (6.1 rpg) and steals (1.9 spg) and has flirted with a triple-double three times.
After a break for final exams, Moss and the Gators return to competition on Sunday, Dec. 16, when the squad travels to Philadelphia and plays La Salle.
