The University of Florida soccer team opens its spring season Saturday with a pair of home matches. The Gators face Florida International University and the University of Miami at two different sites on the UF campus.
The Gators take on the FIU Golden Panthers at 2 p.m. at the soccer practice field, which is part of the UF Lacrosse/Soccer Complex on Hull Road. Fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs for seating for the UF-FIU match.
At 7 p.m., Florida faces the Miami Hurricanes in the James G. Pressly Stadium. Admission is free for both matches.
These are the same two teams Florida faced in the opening weekend of the 2011 season, as the Gators took 2-0 wins in both meetings in south Florida. The Gators posted a 17-8 record in 2011, advancing to the NCAA Second Round.
