
Gators Continue Spring Season at Charleston Shootout

Coming off a third place finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, the University of Florida men's golf team will return to action on Monday, Feb. 27, when it travels to The Links at Stono Ferry to compete in the Charleston Shootout.
“This is the first time we've played here and we're fired up to see what Stono Ferry is all about,” said head coach Buddy Alexander. “We're excited to get back out there after a tough final round at the Gator and we're looking forward to another opportunity to get better.”
The Gators will send out a lineup of juniors T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.), Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), freshman J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), seniors Zach Lee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), Michael Furci (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman Eric Banks (Truro, Canada) at the par-72 6,934 yard course. All six golfers will compete for the Orange and Blue, with four scores counting for the team's total each round.
The 2012 edition of the Charleston Shootout will feature a 14-team field of two-time defending National Champions Augusta State, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Florida, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Longwood, Navy, Presbyterian, Radford, Stephen F. Austin, Stetson, USC Upstate and Western Kentucky.
The event will start with 36-holes of shotgun play on Monday starting at 9 a.m. and concludes with 18 holes with fixed tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring for the tournament will be available through golfstat.com.
