Charting the Gators: Up and Down 3-point shooting in the SEC

Which shooting team is going to show up Tuesday night in Nashville?
The way the Gators have been doing that roller-coaster thing from the 3-point line, no one can be certain. One thing is for sure, however, and that's Florida coach Billy Donovan -- even coming off that masonry-like display Saturday at Georgia, where UF hit must 21.7 percent from the arc and a season-low five 3-pointers -- still has plenty faith in his players from the perimeter. “I think that we're one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league,” said Donovan, whose 16th-ranked Gators (22-7, 10-4) face Vanderbilt (20-9, 9-5) on ESPN at 9 p.m. “If someone has the ball at the 3-point line and they're guarded, they need to move the ball. I'm more concerned about what kind of shot it is. Is it a good shot or a bad shot? If it's a good shot, you have to take it.” The Gators took some good ones that didn't go in at Athens (a lot of them, actually). But they've had other games like that this SEC season, losing some, but also getting by. The only thing consistent about their outside shooting has been its inconsistency -- except for the fact Florida, which ranks fourth in the league in 3-point shooting at 37 percent (behind Vanderbilt 42.3, Kentucky 39.3 and Mississippi State 37.8) shoots a bunch of them, no matter if they're going in or not. Here's a look at UF's long-distance shooting in league play to date.
