
Gator Junior Randy Stageberg Named to SEC Gymnastics Community Service Team

University of Florida junior Randy Stageberg is this year's Gator gymnastics representative for the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced Monday. The team is made up of one gymnast from each of the seven competing universities who gives back to her community through exemplary service efforts. Each of the 20 sports the league sponsors has its own Community Service Team.

Stageberg has dedicated more than 88 hours of her time to community service efforts in the past two seasons. The junior Family, Youth and Community sciences major has volunteered at several Gators March for Babies events and has visited patients at the Shands Pediatric Ward and Infusion Room. She has also participated in the Gator Tracks program, where Florida student-athletes purchase and deliver new shoes to children in need.
Together with the rest of the gymnastics team, Stageberg volunteered at last October's Gainesville American Cancer Society's Seventh Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk to hand out drinks, pink ribbons and medals to participants. Stageberg was a counselor at the gymnastics team's fall Harvest Food Drive clinic, which raises canned goods for Gainesville's Bread of the Mighty Food Bank Inc. With an admission fee of five canned goods, children can learn gymnastics skills from the Gators gymnastics team.
Since the fall of 2009, she volunteered more than 40 hours at Terwilliger Elementary School, working with the After School program (aiding in homework, arts & crafts, games, etc.) and with children aged kindergarten – 5th grade, helping them with assignments.
No. 1 Florida begins its postseason hunt at this Saturday's SEC Championship meet in Duluth, Ga. Meet time is set for 4:05 p.m. ET in The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Ticket prices range from $12 to $16, and are available for the lower, mezzanine and club levels. Fans buying six or more tickets can purchase tickets for a discounted price of $8 per ticket in the club level.
