
Coach Holloway Previews Texas Relays, Discusses Last Weekend's UCF Invitational

University of Florida track and field head coach Mike Holloway addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Coach Holloway recapped the Gators' participation in the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. over the past weekend. Sophomore Stipe Zunic (Zadar, Croatia) took home the first outdoor victory in 2012 for the Orange and Blue, turning in the second-furthest throw of his career with a mark of 73.84m/242-3 in the javelin.
The trio of Jeremy Postin (Auburndale, Fla.), David Triassi (St. Johns, Fla.) and David Levin (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) also came up big on Friday, as Postin came in second on Friday with a mark of 65.81m/215-11. Triassi finished fourth throwing a personal record of 56.55m/185-06 and Levin turned in a seventh-place performance with a toss of 49.67m/162-11.
Senior thrower Keely Medeiros (Blumenau-SC, Brazil) had the highest finish of Saturday for the Gators, placing second in the women's shot put with a toss of 16.52m/54-2.50. Medeiros was also solid in the discus, finishing sixth with a mark of 48.87m/160-4.
The No. 1 Florida men and No. 11 Florida women now look toward the 85th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, taking place March 28-31 on the campus of the University of Texas, Austin. The Gators will compete on Friday and Saturday, March 30-31, at Mike A. Myers Track Stadium.
