Tuesday, March 6, 2012 | Track and Field
The Southeastern Conference released its All-SEC teams for indoor track and field, based on results at the 2012 indoor league championships, which took place Feb. 24-26 in Lexington, Ky.
The winner in each event, including relays, earns first-team All-SEC recognition; the second-place finisher in each event, including relays, earns second-team All-SEC recognition, and the top freshman finisher in each event, excluding relays, earns SEC All-Freshman Team recognition.
In all, the Gators boasted 24 athletes with 29 honors. 18 of those athletes will participate in the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships this upcoming weekend, Friday-Saturday, March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho. ESPN3.com and NCAA.com will provide live coverage of the championships.
The No. 1 Florida men are the two-time defending NCAA Indoor Champions (2010, 2011), while the No. 7 Gator women placed fourth at the national indoor meet in 2010 and just claimed the 2012 SEC Indoor Championship.
