An update from football coach Will Muschamp.
Gators coach Will Muschamp took questions from reporters a little while ago on the SEC Spring Football Coaches Media Teleconference.
The most notable item Muschamp addressed was junior defensive lineman Ronald Powell's knee surgery. Powell, who suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the Orange and Blue Debut spring game, had surgery on Monday.

“I thought it went very well,'' Muschamp said. “We'll see what the timetable is on [his return]. Again, like I've said before, if anybody that can come back it will be Ronald. He is a very determined young man for his rehab.”
Muschamp also discussed the addition of Maryland transfer Max Garcia, an offensive lineman who started some during his time with the Terrapins. Garcia won't be eligible to play until 2013, but he adds more depth to the position.
“I always feel like you need to have 15 to 17 offensive linemen on scholarship. It's a developmental position,'' Muschamp said. “We've got 14 now. Adding Max is a guy that has played before. He's a good football player, an outstanding student. I'm very pleased to add him into the mix with our offensive line.”
Finally, Muschamp followed up on comments he made at last week's Gator Gathering in Gainesville concerning the possibility of players transferring during the end-of-spring evaluation period.
“I think that was a little blown out of proportion,'' Muschamp said. “What I always say is that when you are in your evaluation period with your players – which I'm about through with – there's always things that come up. At this point, we don't have any. You never say never on these things.”
Muschamp is scheduled to speak at a Gator Gathering in Daytona later today. I'm tagging along and will have a story later tonight on GatorZone.com.
