
Gator Men's Basketball Adds South Carolina Transfer Damontre Harris

The University of Florida has received notification from Damontre Harris (Fayetteville, N.C.) of his intent to transfer and join the Gator men's basketball program.
Harris, a South Carolina transfer and 2012 SEC All-Defensive Team selection, is eligible to practice with UF, but must sit out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer regulations.
During his two seasons in Columbia, Harris averaged 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per outing. Known for his defensive prowess and length, the 6-9, 226 pound, Harris is coming off a successful sophomore campaign where he started 30 of 31 games for the Gamecocks and ranked second in the SEC with 71 blocks. Additionally, Harris led South Carolina with 5.5 rebounds per game, posted nine double-figure scoring games and had 17 games with two double-doubles.
The Gators are coming off a 26-11 season which included their second-consecutive Elite Eight appearance.
