GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators are on the verge of their third consecutive trip to the College World Series.
Florida opened the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional against N.C. State on Saturday with a 7-1 win. The teams meet in Game 2 on Sunday afternoon (1 p.m., ESPNU).
If Florida wins, the Gators punch their ticket to Omaha. If the Wolfpack avoid elimination, Game 3 will be played Monday at McKethan Stadium.
You can follow the game and join the conversation on our live blog on GatorZone.com.
Sophomore right-hander Jonathon Crawford (6-2, 2.92 ERA) gets the start for the Gators. Crawford is making his first appearance since throwing the first no-hitter in the NCAA Tournament in 21 years on June 1 against Bethune-Cookman.
N.C. State freshman lefty Carlos Rodon, one of three finalists for the Golden Spikes Award -- Gators catcher Mike Zunino and Stanford pitcher Mark Appel are the others -- will try to keep the Wolfpack's season alive.
Rodon is 9-0 with a 1.61 ERA and has 132 strikeouts in 111 2/3 innings.
